The US House of Representatives voted 423 to 1 last week for a resolution asking the WTO to ban Internet taxes permanently at its Seattle meeting next month. The Global Internet Tax Freedom Act also calls on the OECD to support the ban, and not to place any taxes on e-commerce.
Of course it makes sense not to impede the growth of the Net (as if anything could!) but how can governments replace tax revenues lost to the wild, wild web without 'taxing e-commerce'?
