Digitas Inc, a US e-business company quoted on the Nasdaq stock exchange, has entered the Asian market by establishing a regional office in Hong Kong. The move into Asia is part of the company's global expansion strategy, which has so far encompassed Europe and Latin America.

The company has also made a number of key appointments to its new Asian operation, naming Robert Maher, Executive Vice President of Digitas' Integrated Technologies Group, to be President of Digitas Asia and Andrew So as Senior Vice President and Managing Director of the Hong Kong office.

Commenting on the move into Asia, Digitas' president and chief operating officer Michael Ward said the opening of operations in the region was of enormous strategic significance. He stated: 'Many of our clients already have substantial interests in Asia and are looking to us to help them gain competitive advantage in the digital economy. Our goal is to leverage our strengths in customer relationship management and e-business transformation for our global clients while attracting new clients in the region......Their [Maher and So] proven track record in opening new offices, winning new business, and supporting high level clients makes them compelling choices to carry the Digitas banner into Asia.'

Headquartered in Boston, Digitas employs more than 1900 people and has offices in New York, San Francisco, Salt Lake City, Miami and London. The company describes itself as an engine, which helps "big businesses become leading e-businesses". It has four main services: Digital Strategy helps clients determine how to use the Internet and emerging technologies to create new business models; Technology, Architecture, and Infrastructure Services helps connect companies to their customers, whether by wireless, voice, website or retail; Marketing and Creative Services is focused on promoting brands to customers; and Performance Measurement provides a yardstick and continuous feedback mechanism.
