It emerged last week that the United Nations has selected the 40 government, private and civil sector members of its Working Group on Internet Governance (WGIG), the groundwork for which was laid last year.
According to reports, the group will discuss issues including the management of the internet at a technical and policy level, and will be chaired by Nitin Desai, who is special advisor to the UN's Secretry-General, Kofi Annan.
The new working group is set to meet for the first time in Geneva on November 23-25, and a preliminary report on the issues raised is expected in July 2005.
