UK Financial advisory firm, Grant Thornton announced on Wednesday that it has expanded its international tax practice with the appointment of Craig McAree to the position of Head of International Tax, and Joy Svasti-Salee to the role of International Tax Director.

Mr McAree has 10 years' corporate tax experience with Big Four firms and joins from Ernst and Young LLP. He has extensive experience of international structuring, tax efficient cross border financing and repatriation strategies, and supply chain re-engineering.

Ms Svasti-Salee joins as a Director with 25 years' tax experience, having been head of international tax at KPMG and a partner for 12 years. She has significant experience of advising UK and US-based multinationals on international and European tax matters, including European-based challenges at the European Court of Justice.

Ian Evans, Head of Tax at Grant Thornton welcomed the appointments, explaining that,

"Craig's and Joy's appointments are very significant additions to our international tax practice. Both of them bring a wealth of experience to the firm having worked with a vast range of clients from multinationals and mid-sized listed businesses to owner-managed businesses. This expansion comes at a time when rulings from the European Court of Justice are leading businesses to seek increasingly specialist advice, and it underlines the firm's commitment to provide clients with a viable alternative to the Big Four."
