It was announced on Monday that there were a total of 23 vessel movements on the UK Ship Register during September 2007, resulting in just under 300,000 in gross tonnage being added.
According to the Ship Register, amongst the most significant vessels to join were the CMA CGM vessels: ROSA DELMAS, CMA CGM SWORDFISH and the CMA CGM MANET at a combined tonnage of 113,310 GT.
The Maersk Company Ltd flagged in two new builds, the MAERSK BROWNSVILLE of 48,853 GT and the MAERSK KELSO of 74,642 GT.
The Zodiac Maritime Agencies 46,800 GT car carrier CSAV RIO GRANDE and the Safmarine Container Lines 50,686 GT container ship SAFMARINE MAKUTU also joined the UK Ship Register.
Ships from K&K Schiffahrts, James Fisher Shipping, Stolt Nielsen Transportation, Imperial Shipping and Carisbrooke Shipping additionally joined the UK Ship Register during September.
The average age of the UK fleet continues to reduce as the majority of the vessels coming onto the UK Ship Register are either new builds or of younger tonnage. The average age of vessels flagging-in during September was seven years.
