The UK's Patent Office on Monday launched a new publication, entitled 'The Patent Office Annual Review, Our Story: Highlights of 2005' which will supplement the existing formal Annual Report (financial year 2005-2006).
The new format of the Annual Review gives The Patent Office the opportunity to cover some of its activities in greater detail than is possible in the Annual Report, as well as including the Facts and Figures, an easy to read statistical overview of 2005.
Speaking with regard to the new publication, Chief Executive of The Patent Office, Ron Marchant observed that:
"I believe 2005 has been a successful year for The Patent Office. We have engaged across a wide range of innovation related issues, wider than in the past. This is not by chance. It is a conscious decision and a direct result of the implications for UK business of the global knowledge based economy in which economic competitiveness depends on creativity and innovation. Intellectual property is a key tool and driver in this new economy."
The formal Annual Report will be available at the end of the month.
