Fiona Woolf took office as Law Society president last week at the Law Society's Annual General Meeting.
Ms Woolf, who takes over from Kevin Martin, is the first female City solicitor to become president, and is reportedly determined to focus on redesigning the Law Society so that it provides services that solicitors want, to support them in their practices and careers.
”Solicitors have told us that they want an efficient and effective national body. We are working to become an organisation that is increasingly relevant to its members – contemporary, value for money, responsive and showing real leadership through a period of immense change. The Council is now developing the services that we will offer in future based on what solicitors have told us they want,” she explained following her appointment.
Also last week, Andrew Holroyd, formerly deputy vice president, stepped up to vice president, and Paul Marsh started his year as deputy vice president.
