In a survey conducted by The Lawyer magazine and published on Monday, it emerged that five of the top ten largest and most profitable law firms in the poll are UK-based.
According to reports, Clifford Chance was revealed to be the most profitable firm, bringing in an estimated £950 million in revenue last year.
Although US-based Skadden Arps occupied second place in the poll, it was followed by the City of London's Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.
UK firms Linklaters and Allen & Overy also found a place in the top ten, occupying the fourth and sixth positions respectively.
Speaking to the Guardian this week, The Lawyer's editor, Catrin Griffiths suggested that the predominance of British law firms in the higher end of the survey of the world's most profitable law firms was a result of their success as "prolific exporters of legal services".
