UK IP Office Launches Enhanced Online Patent Services

by Robin Pilgrim, LawAndTax-News.com, London

21 December 2007

The UK Intellectual Property Office announced on Wednesday that customers can now request an online certified copy of their patent applications and provide information about late declarations of priority, thanks to a new enhanced version of the web based service originally launched in June 2007.

The service launched earlier this year was designed to allow users to apply for patents on-line and provide their inventorship information using a web-based interface. Users can also request search and examination of their application in this way.

Included in the most recent launch is a new web filing service allowing customers to request entry of an international patent application to the UK national phase.

Over the next few months, further enhancements will be introduced which will allow customers to request and receive an uncertified office copy electronically, and also to file a selection of later filed forms and documents via the IP Office website

Sean Dennehey, Director of Patents explained that:

"These new and enhanced services and our planned future releases underline our commitment to providing our customers with as much choice and as many options to do business with us as possible."
