The third bill of the UK government’s Tax Law Rewrite project, which aims to simplify the language of the country’s direct tax legislation, has been published in parliament.
The Tax Law Rewrite project, overseen by a Steering Committee chaired by Lord Howe, aims to rewrite the UK's primary direct tax legislation so that it is clearer and easier to use, but without changing its general effect.
The key aims of the project are to achieve a clearer, more logical structure of tax legislation through the use of plain language whilst not altering any of the main tax policies.
The third bill, published in parliament on Wednesday, covers the taxation of trading, property, savings and investment and miscellaneous income, in addition to special rules for foreign income, partnerships and the relief rules for rent-a-room and foster-carers.
