One of the UK's top tax commentators is to carry out an independent review of the taxation options facing the Island.
John Whiting will look at Finance and Economics' plans, including the zero-ten corporate structure and the sales tax, and at the alternatives put forward by Senator Stuart Syvret, such as capital gains tax.
Although he has been employed by Finance, Mr Whiting will report directly to the States by the end of this month.
Finance vice-president Senator Philip Ozouf said that this underlines the independence of his report.
