In an attempt to break its deadlock with the EU over withholding tax, the UK Government put forward an alternative plan based on improved information disclosure between countries rather than a withholding tax as a deterrent to tax evasion. But so far no-one in Brussels seems to be very impressed with the UK's latest proposal.
