The governments of Bulgaria and the United Arab Emirates reportedly signed a double taxation avoidance agreement in Sofia on Monday, June 24.
According to a Gulf News report, a UAE delegation headed by Dr Mohammad Khalfan Bin Kharbash, the Minister of State for Financial and Industrial Affairs, flew to Sofia to discuss economic cooperation with the Bulgarian ministers of economy and energy.
The delegations discussed various investment opportunities and the potential for launching joint private sector ventures.
The agreement brings the UAE's double tax avoidance treaty network to 45. These include agreements with, among other countries: Algeria, Jordan, Sudan, Syria, Kuwait, Yemen, Egypt, Finland, France, India, Malta, Pakistan, Poland, China, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Poland, Romania, Singapore, South Korea, Sudan, Algeria and Turkey.
The UAE also has four agreements for exemption from taxation for the revenues of air freight businesses with Switzerland, the Netherlands, Sri Lanka, and Singapore.
