It emerged this week that eBay and Tumbleweed Communications have settled their patent dispute.

Tumbleweed, which provides enterprise e-mail, file transfer, and firewall services, sued eBay subsidiary PayPal last year, claiming that the online payment provider had infringed its patents with regard to electronic notification procedures and document storage and retrieval.

PayPal responded by issuing counter-claims.

As part of the settlement, the two firms have agreed not to sue each other again with regard to the same items.
