Thomson Financial/Wiesenberger, a leading provider of technology, information and marketing solutions to the financial services industry, has constructed a customized offshore version of its hypothetical illustration software, InvestmentView, for UBS PaineWebber.

UBS PaineWebber's brokers have been using the sales tool for almost a month now to research, present and sell offshore funds offered in the 'Offshore Fund' programme to qualified retail investors and according to Thomson Financial/Wiesenberger, the sales solution also provides the fund families participating in the programme with the opportunity to better market their offshore fund offerings to investors through UBS PaineWebber's brokers.

In a statement released by TF/W, executive vice president of investment marketing products, Mike Iapalucci, said: 'The offshore fund market has been growing very dramatically. Broker/dealers and third party distributors are striving to equip their individual brokers with the right sales solutions to effectively sell offshore funds and meet the demand for this rising sector. A customized InvestmentView offshore version provides UBS PaineWebber's brokers with a powerful tool to sell offshore funds to their clients.'

Sharon Pascarelle, divisional vice president of Marketing, at the international private accounts groups of UBS PaineWebber, added: 'As the number of offshore fund offerings continue to increase, investors are demanding to see more compelling illustrations, comparisons and comprehensive analysis of the various offshore funds available. Providing our offshore brokers with a hypothetical illustration and research software enables them to meet the growing needs of these investors.'

There are currently 16 fund families participating in UBS PaineWebber's offshore fund programme, 12 of which have included their offshore fund data in Wiesenberger's InvestmentView. Another six firms are slated to sign up for the programme, all of which are expected to include their data in the software to achieve more transparency and promote their offshore fund offerings.
