Ministers from Thailand and Indonesia have met to discuss arrangements for the signing of a new trade and economic pact between their two countries later this year.
The meeting, which took place during the latest summit of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Thailand on February 28, was attended by Thai Minister of Commerce, Porntiva Nagasai, and Indonesian Minister of Commerce, Mari Elga Pangestu.
The pact will focus primarily on economic co-operation, and could feature tax benefits to help support both nations' auto industries, a sector that has been hit hard by the global economic and financial downturn.
According to Nakasai, the bilateral agreement could be ready for signing in June 2009.
