Pakistan's Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has revealed that it collected PKR628.22bn (USD7.9bn) worth of tax revenues during first seven months of the current fiscal year.
This figure represents an increase of 22% compared to the PKR512.6bn collected in the same period in 2007.
According to the provisional figures, the FBR collected PKR74.39bn in January 2009.
Of the total collected in January, PKR32bn derived from sales tax revenues (after rebates/refunds), with a further PKR10.8bn gained from the collection of customs taxes after rebates.
PKR24.6bn was collected in direct taxes after rebates last month, and just under PKR50bn was collected in indirect taxes after rebates.
