Recent discussions between representatives of the Australian government and the Prime Minister of Antigua & Barbuda, Baldwin Spencer, may lead to a future technical assistance agreement between the two countries.
This possibility was one of the main topics discussed during the presentation of Letters of Introduction by the Australian High Commissioner Designate, John Michell to the Caribbean jurisdiction’s Prime Minister.
Mr Michell was reported as saying that Antigua & Barbuda represents an ideal conduit for Australian private sector investment, particularly in the fields of trade, investment and tourism.
The High Commissioner confirmed that his country is seeking to build business relationships within the Caribbean region, and has the ability to lend support to Antigua & Barbuda.
Mr Michell also held meetings with the Antigua & Barbuda Chamber of Commerce and the British High Commissioner, amongst other business and cultural groups.
