Last Friday, hedge-fund index provider Talenthedge announced the preview of a new hedge fund index: Talenthedge Portable Alpha Capacity Index, "TPAC".
The TPAC index will focus exclusively on Euro-currency-class funds with a client
service office in London or Paris, and will be using the updated Talenthedge
methodology, which is now reduced to 40 check-list questions (vs. 90); a number
of the previous questions were changed into selection criteria. This measure
will make the fund questionnaire more user-friendly and, therefore, a better
form of communication and risk management.
For the TPAC index license, in addition to fees for the "Portable Alpha" License, an advance quarterly fee of Euro 24,000 (plus VAT) is due, for the license of the index data, a Talenthedge database subset.
The Talenthedge index range started with investable hedge fund indices. In May 2006, plans were announced to create an investable money market fund index. René Friedrich, 43, has advised institutional investors in Europe since 1988, and has selected and evaluated hedge funds since 1996. He has developed the TALENTHEDGE investable hedge fund index and hedge fund rating methodology since 2002, as an independent consulting business.
