Taiwan's government is less than optimistic about next year's budget finance, after figures revealed that May's tax revenue was down 20% on the amount collected in the same period of the previous year.
The shortfall amounted to approximately TWD150bn (USD4.5bn).
Announcing the news at a Cabinet meeting on June 17 the country's Premier, Liu Chao-shuan, stated:
"As certain taxes are counted as next year's revenue, we can't be too optimistic about 2010's tax income.”
