The Taiwanese government has lifted the travel restrictions on individuals who have tax arrears under TWD100,000 (USD2,961).
The law was altered on April 14 after individuals with small tax debts objected to the bar on overseas travel - of which they were only informed about once they had reached the airport.
Further to this, though, it has been suggested by one Taiwanese lawmaker, Wu Ching-chi, that those with tax debts leaving the country on a frequent basis, thereby indicating that they have the funds to pay off the debt, should be barred from travelling again until all outstanding debts are settled.
