The Melita Marine Group has given the super motor yacht the Indian Empress a general refit during her fourth visit to Malta, according to reports in the Maltese media.
Aided by the Malta Superyacht Services, the Melita Marine Group completely overhauled two of the yacht's three main engines and four generators, re-caulked the decking and crew cabins and gave other areas an update.
This was all carried out during the Empress's two month stay.
The Manoel Island Marina has over the years become one of the Indian Empress's regular ports of call, whether it be for basic services such as provisioning and bunkering, or more complex necessities such as its recent refit, the Malta Independent explained in its report on the project.
“Over the past years, Melita Marine Group has gained a reputation for delivering a high quality service,” Pierre Balzan, managing director for Melita Marine was quoted by the newspaper as announcing.
“Owners and captains have been consistently putting their trust in our skilled workforce in Malta, where we have invested in a solid service structure, as well as at our various offices throughout the Mediterranean. The service rendered by our staff and approved sub-contractors has indeed reached a level of excellence," he added.
Built in Holland in 2000, the Indian Empress (formerly known as the Al Mirqab) is one of the largest yachts in the world, and is capable of reaching speeds of up to 25 knots.
The Empress is now under the ownership of Indian billionaire and entrepreneur Vijay Mallya, chairman of United Beverages Group, after previously belonging to the Qatari Royal Family.
