Standard Life Investments on Monday announced the launch of the second edition of its annual review of long term investment themes, entitled Global Horizons.
Issues examined in the review include the consequences for financial markets of later retirement and the decreasing ratio of workers to dependents; the development of better bond models; the use of private equity and property to meet the diversification needs of investors; and the need for increased corporate responsibility.
The Global Horizons report also looks at the increasing importance of emerging markets such as Brazil, Russia, India, and China for international investors, and examines liability driven investing.
Speaking following the launch of the review, chief investment officer at Standard Life Investments, Keith Skeoch observed that:
"Investors appear to have regained some confidence in the outlook for equity markets over the next couple of years. Nevertheless, stock markets are unlikely to rise in a straight line - they never do - and there will undoubtedly be challenging periods ahead. We present the insights contained in Global Horizons to assist our clients in their investment choices ahead."
