Speakers Unveiled For Guernsey Funds 2006 Conference

by Philip Morton, Investors Offshore.com

15 June 2006

The programme for the Guernsey Funds 2006 conference was announced on Tuesday, just a few days after record figures of funds under management and administration were posted for the Island.

The conference and exhibition will be held at the Queen Elizabeth II conference centre in Westminster, London on Wednesday 27 September 2006. Delegates’ discussions are expected to focus on the wide-ranging conference programme as well as on the exceptional levels of activity that are being recorded in the Island.

The day’s programme combines a keynote speech from Howard Flight, co-founder and Managing Director of Guinness Flight in 1986 and currently a member of the Board of the Guernsey Financial Services Commission; three plenary sessions, a choice of nine break-out sessions and a conference debate in the afternoon. The conference chairman is Peter Harwood, Head of the Corporate Department of Guernsey law firm Ozannes, who recently led the panel reviewing the investment sector in Guernsey.

Guernsey Funds 2006, organised by the Guernsey Investment Fund Association (GIFA), will have a strong technical focus and delegates will hear about recent product developments using Guernsey as their jurisdiction of establishment and about the latest innovations within the fund management sector in Guernsey, including using Guernsey as a front and back office facility.

Peter Niven, Chief Executive of GuernseyFinance, the conference sponsor observed that:

“Guernsey is already well established as the jurisdiction of choice for offshore fund business and this conference will provide the opportunity to maintain that high visibility. At the same time, it will allow local fund managers, legal and financial advisors, intermediaries and brokers to demonstrate Guernsey’s distinctive benefits to new promoters.”
