Florida-based spammer, Scott Levine was last week convicted of massive data theft.
According to reports, Mr Levine's Snipermail.com company illegally accessed the customer records of information management firm, Acxiom Corporation, downloading large files in order to boost its value as a spam firm.
The Snipermail owner was last week found guilty on 120 counts of accessing data without authorisation (leaving him facing a maximum prison sentence of five years and a fine of $250,000 per count), two counts of access device fraud (each of which brings a maximum ten year sentence and $250,000 fine), and one count of obstruction of justice, which could see him facing twenty years in prison and an additional $250,000 in fines.
