The Secretary of State for Finance and Budgets of Spain, Carlos Ocaña, and the Minister of Economy and Finance of Uruguay, Álvaro García, have signed an agreement between Spain and Uruguay for the avoidance of double taxation and to prevent evasion of taxes on income and on capital.
The agreement conforms with the international standards drawn up by the OECD, and is the second such agreement signed by Uruguay to meet up-to-date OECD standards of transparency, the first being signed with Mexico in August.
In April 2009, García informed the OECD that Uruguay formally endorses the OECD’s standards on transparency and exchange of information.
