The Commissioner for the South African Revenue Service (SARS) has revealed that the first phase of the SAR's e-commerce programme is now underway.
The new facility will enable taxpayers to electronically request income tax return extensions and it is part of SARS’ Siyakha Project, which is aimed at improving operational efficiencies throughout the organisation.
The facility, which will be supported by the New Income Tax System (NITS), is secure and can be accessed 24 hours a day. It is available on www.sars.gov.za under the e-Commerce and Income Tax - New Income Tax System divisions.
Requesting the income tax return extensions via e-mail will also be possible in the near future
