Seychelles Discusses Investment Opportunities With Qatar

Seychelles President James Michel (pictured) arrived in the oil-rich Middle Eastern emirate of Qatar this week, where talks were held with high ranking officials of the Qatari government including the Emir of Qatar, H.H. Sheik Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, focused on enhancing investment links between the two countries.

According to a statement from the presidential delegation which was quoted in an online report by Seychelles Nation, the negotiations towards a bilateral double taxation avoidance agreement between the two countries are already well advanced and will be concluded shortly.

The report also indicated that an agreement on the protection of investments between the Seychelles and Qatar would also be concluded soon.

An official round of talks was held between the two delegations on Monday under the chairmanship of the Emir of Qatar, H.H. Sheik Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, and President Michel.

Also in attendance were Qatari Prime Minister H.H. Sheik Abdullah Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Foreign Minister H.E. Ahmad Bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud, and Minister of Finance H.E. Yousuf Hussein Kamal, among other senior figures from the Qatari government.
