The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners this week announced that it will host its first ever International Trust and Tax Conference in Hong Kong this autumn.
The Honourable Mr Justice Bokhary, a founding member of Hong Kong’s highest court, will be keynote speaker at the Conference, set to run between 12-13 October, and will address delegates on the Rule of Law in Hong Kong at 'Trusts & Tax in Asia – Now and the Future'.
Tax & Trusts in Asia – Now and the Future will focus on the major tax, trust and succession issues facing Hong Kong, the PRC and Asia as a whole. It will also look at how the US, UK, Canada and Australia tax foreign trusts.
Commenting on the forthcoming Conference, Justice Bokhary observed that:
"It is important to recognise the part played by the rule of law in supplying and safeguarding the economic and legal environment which makes Hong Kong a free society and an international financial centre."
