The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) yesterday celebrated its fifteenth birthday, revealing that over that period, its membership has gone from just sixty to around 12,000 members.
The Society was formed following the publication of an open letter by George Tasker in the January 1991 edition of Trusts and Estates magazine.
Chairman Michael Cadesky observed that:
"George Tasker's vision of a worldwide learning network for trust and estate advisors is now a reality. Before STEP there was a serious question mark over where the next generation of private client professionals would come from. Now STEP has nearly 12,000 members worldwide and we are training over 2,000 students."
"Our mission to educate extends to policymakers in national governments, the EU and the OECD. Through lobbying on issues like the UK’s budget attack on trusts we have become an effective voice of the industry.”
