STEP Announces Private Client Award Winners

Hundreds of leading private client lawyers, accountants, bankers, trustees and barristers gathered in London for the STEP Private Client Awards 2006 on Tuesday.

Chairman of the judging panel, Wilson Cotton, observed that:

"The awards highlight excellence amongst professionals advising and managing family wealth. The awards process was pretty tough. The judges found the winners had made a significant impact on the profession and the judges put an emphasis on organisations that make their dedication to clients paramount."

The Winners of the STEP Private Client Awards 2006 were as follows:

  • Institutional Trust Company of the Year - Ansbacher
  • Independent Trust Company of the Year – Opus Group
  • UK Charity Team of the Year – Bircham Dyson Bell
  • Private Banking Team of the Year – HSBC Private Bank
  • Institutional Investment Team of the Year – GAM
  • Barrister of the Year – Chris Whitehouse
  • Accountancy Team of the Year – Saffrey Champness
  • Offshore Legal Team of the Year – Joint Award - Ogier and Walkers
  • Private Client Book of the Year – Butterworth’s Guide to US/UK Private Wealth Tax Planning (Totell) by Richard Layman, Lee Williams and Dawn Nicholson
  • Best Government Initiative of the Year – Dubai Financial Services Authority
  • UK Regional Legal Team of the Year – Mills & Reeve
  • London Legal Team of the Year – Macfarlanes
  • Outstanding Achievement Award – John Riches and Emma Chamberlain QC
  • Lifetime achievement Award – Martyn Gowar (Lawrence Graham)
  • Lifetime Achievement Award - John Rhodes (Macfarlanes)
