Ryanair's Chief Executive Michael O'Leary has hinted that an earlier proposal to charge passengers for using onboard toilets may come into effect in the near future.
The scheme, which has been dubbed a 'toilet tax,' would see passengers charged GBP1 per toilet visit onboard Ryanair flights.
Confirming speculation that the toilet tax idea may become a reality, Mr O'Leary also explained he was looking into the possibility of having the number of onboard toilets reduced to make way for extra seating.
"I do believe we will start charging for toilet access," he stated, adding:
"We are flying aircraft on an average flight time of one hour around Europe. What the hell do we need three toilets for? If you get rid of two [toilets] you can get six more seats on a 737."
The controversial measures are part of the air carrier's bid to increase revenue intake after it made a loss of GBP145.9m (USD239m) in the last year.
