At a press conference this week, Russian Tax Minister Gennadiy Bukayev announced that the collection of tax revenues for Russia's consolidated budget for the first nine months of 2001 has totaled RUR1.381 trillion (about US$46.7bn) which is up by 34.8 per cent from the same period last year.
Tax collections for the federal budget amounted to RUR670bn (US$22.7bn) which is RUR31bn (US$1.05bn) more than the estimated target. The minister pointed out that the rate of tax collection from individual taxpayers was 50 per cent higher than in the previous year.
