Speaking to reporters following a high-level meeting of the Russian-Brazilian commission for trade and economic cooperation last week, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov spoke of higher levels of bilateral interaction and cooperation to come, announcing that:
"We expect to sign a convention on the avoidance of double taxation in the near future."
He also hinted at plans for increasing mutual investment protection, and for stimulating bilateral investment, and pointed to agriculture as a likely area for greater interaction between the two countries, telling the Brazilian delegation that: "I believe your companies will find serious economic interests here."
