Revenue Commission To Set Up Tax Office For Ireland's Wealthy

by Jason Gorringe, Tax-News.com, London

21 October 2003

According to a report from the Business World news service, the Irish Revenue Commission is to set up a separate office that will focus exclusively on the tax affairs of the wealthy.

It is expected that the Revenue will write to taxpayers worth more than 50 million euros, informing them that they will no longer be dealing with their local taxation office, but will be referred to a special 'large cases division' within the Revenue Commission.

According to Business World, the Revenue will be communicating with around 250 taxpayers and their financial advisors, in a move that coincides with the establishment of five teams nationwide that will concentrate on rooting out tax evasion.
