The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) has announced that famous explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes will be the guest speaker at STEP's 15th fifteenth birthday dinner.
The dinner will take place on Thursday 16th November at the Park Lane Hotel, London. Explorer, visionary and former SAS soldier, Sir Ranulph Fiennes, described by the Guinness Book of Records as ‘the world’s greatest explorer’, will speak to STEP members about his experiences across the globe.
Chairman Michael Cadesky said: ‘George Tasker's vision of creating a worldwide learning network for trust and estate advisors has come of age. From a cramped room in Baker Street STEP now has nearly 12,000 members worldwide and is growing stronger still.’
Michael continued: ’ Sir Ranulph will be talking to us about his travels which have taken him all over the globe - from discovering the lost City of Ubar in the Oman desert to reaching 300 metres off the summit of Everest at the age of 61. Sir Ranulph did this despite suffering from vertigo. His courage mirrors that of our founder George Tasker who has never been held back by his worries, critics or disappointments. STEP owes its success to such men.’
Chief Executive David Harvey said: ‘It will be exciting to hear from Sir Ranulph Fiennes , as he is an inspirational figure who has done remarkable feats, like walking to both poles. Fortunately STEP 's members dont have to suffer such privations , but we would not have got where we are without the dedication and team spirit which people like Sir Ranulph and George Tasker encapsulate .’
The first ever formal STEP meeting was held at the Baker Street offices of BDO Stoy Hayward, on 4 July 1991. Quickly, branches started to spring up all over the UK, and the launch of STEP Jersey ignited the imagination of practitioners offshore. 15 years on STEP has 67 branches in every major finance centre spanning 55 jurisdictions.
15th Anniversary Dinner partners are BDO Stoy Hayward, GAM, Title Research, Investec Trust, Speechly Bircham and The Royal Bank of Scotland.
