Ruling in Milan at the weekend, Italian Judge Cesare Tacconi ordered Parmalat founder, Calisto Tanzi to stand trial for his role in the financial activities which led to the firm's near collapse in 2003.
In addition to forcing Tanzi to face the music, Judge Tacconi called for another 15 people, including employees of the Italian arms of Bank of America and Deloitte & Touche to stand trial.
The Italian brach of the audit firm, in addition to the fomer Italian brach of Grant Thornton, Italaudit, will also be indicted for failing to provide adequate oversight of their employees.
The new trial is set to commence on September 28.
