Pakistan's Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced that it collected Rs810.32bn (USD16.22bn) during the first nine months of the current fiscal year.
According to provisional figures, the FBR collected Rs103.82bn (USD2.1bn) during the month of March 2009.
Aggregate collection up to March 2009 thus works out to Rs810.32bn (USD16.22bn) as against the Rs679.9bn (USD13.6bn) collected during the corresponding period last year.
Once broken down, the figures show that Direct Taxes were up Rs5,002m (USD100m) on last year's figures and revenue from Sales Tax increased by Rs3,406m (USD68.2m).
In addition, Federal Excise Tax jumped by Rs3,618m (USD72.4m) on last year's figure from the same period, although Customs Duty bucked the trend, declining by Rs2,766m (USD55.3m) on last year's total.
