India's Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is offering free holidays to those who pay outstanding property tax bills in full before August 30, 2009.
Under the scheme, taxpayers who clear their property taxes before August 30 this year will be entered into a draw in which 15 couples will be picked to win return flights for a 3 day trip to Singapore.
The announcement was made during a meeting of the civic body's standing committee on May 26, where Chairman Dnyaneshwar Bhalerao announced:
"Residents who clear their property tax dues and pay the current year's tax in advance before August 30 are eligible for the draw. The condition is that the tax payer has to pay the amount within 15 days of receipt of the bill."
It is hoped that the incentive will increase government revenues by encouraging more people to pay their property tax bills in advance.
