Speaking to the Panorama news service last week prior to the publication of the final list of voters eligible to participate in this Thursday's sovereignty referendum, a government spokesman revealed that this time around, some 20,000 Gibraltarians will be able to vote.
Panorama reported that this represents a substantial increase on the 12,000 able to do so at the 1967 referendum, and revealed that with just a few days left until the poll, political differences have, in the main been put aside, with the jurisdiction's major political parties united in their desire for a resounding 'No' vote.
The final list is now available both online and off in various locations, according to Panorama. However, changes to the register of voters are no longer possible.
On November 7, Gibraltar's residents will be asked to answer Yes or No to the question: 'Do you approve of the principle that Britain and Spain should share sovereignty over Gibraltar?' following remarks made to that effect in the House of Commons in July by the UK's Foreign Secretary, Jack Straw.
