Oman Hikes Airport Tax, Announces Tax Reforms

by Lorys Charalambous, Tax-News.com, Cyprus

05 January 2017

Oman increased its airport tax by OMR1 (USD2.6) to OMR11 per head on January 1, 2017.

The tax is added to international fares, including transfers. Domestic flights will not be affected by the increase.

Meanwhile, in its new Budget, Oman has announced plans to reform the country's income tax laws and introduce new taxes on tobacco and alcohol. It will also rein in tax breaks for certain businesses and make tax administration more efficient.
