International law firm, Ogier was named 'Niche Firm of the Year' at Wednesday's Legal Week Awards 2006.
The accolade, which follows the firm’s win at the Chambers Global Awards earlier this month, acknowledges the specialist nature of the work undertaken by Ogier in the increasing number of jurisdictions in which it now operates.
The award was collected by Ogier partner and head of the firm’s business and trust law group, Clive Chaplin.
"This really tops off what has been an incredible year for Ogier, both in terms of the expansion of the firm and prestigious industry acknowledgement," observed Mr Chaplin.
Also shortlisted for Niche Firm of the Year at the Legal Week Awards 2006 were Maples & Calder, Wiggin & Co, Forsters and Sacker & Partners.
This year Ogier has also won “Offshore Firm of the Year” at the
Chambers Global Awards, “Offshore Legal Team of the Year” at the
Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners Awards and the Alpha Award for “Top
Offshore Law Firm”.
In October, Ogier announced that it is merging BVI firm WSmiths to create a
new global organisation.
As a result of the merger, the group will have a presence in the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, Guernsey, Hong Kong, Ireland, Jersey, London, Montevideo and New Zealand.
