The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has officially issued its October goods and services tax/harmonized sales tax (GST/HST) credit payments.
Individuals who have their GST/HST credit payments deposited directly into their accounts at their financial institutions will already have received their repayments. Individuals who receive their GST/HST credit cheques by mail will receive these within 10 working days, according to the CRA
GST/HST credit recipients have been reminded to inform the CRA of any changes in their family situation as soon as possible. The changes which are likely to affect the amount of GST/HST credit that they receive include the birth of a child or a child starting to live with someone else; a change in marital status; moving from one province to another, which could entitle a person to a provincial benefit administered by the CRA; becoming a resident of Canada; or the death of the individual.
The CRA is issuing GST/HST credit payments in excess of $821 million to more than 8.3 million individuals across Canada this quarter.
To receive the October GST/HST credit payments, people must have filed their 2006 income tax and benefit return, and completed the Goods and services tax/harmonized sales tax (GST/HST) credit application area on the first page of the return.
