The Office of Harmonization for the Internal Market (OHIM) has announced this week that it is taking part in a series of meetings in China as part of the Office's commitment to EU-China cooperation.

The Office participated in international seminars on the European Intellectual Property system in Chongqing on September 16-17, and in Shunde, Guangdong Province, on September 18, with a view to explaining the Community design system to local industries in the automobile, home appliances, and machinery sectors among others.

OHIM is also taking part in a workshop on the "Revision of the Chinese Patent Law", in Harbin, from September 24-26 as the lead agency on designs matters.

A number of meetings with the Chinese Trade Mark Office and the State IP Office of China also took place during the week starting September 22, under the umbrella of the EU-China cooperation project (IPR 2), which was launched earlier this year to help improve the effectiveness of intellectual property rights in China.

The Office also participated in a seminar on well known trade marks for Chinese judges from the country's Supreme Court, practitioners and academics, in Shanghai on Sepember 7-8.
