St Vincent and the Grenadines late last month played host to the 39th meeting of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), it has emerged.
According to reports in the regional media, during the two-day meeting, which commenced on May 20, representatives of the nine OECS member states discussed the establishment of an OECS passport.
They also considered developments in external trade negotiations relating to the Caricom Single Market and Economy (CSME) initiative, the World Trade Organisation, the European Partnership Agreements (EPA), and the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA) accord.
The Eastern Caribbean leaders also heard a report on plans for a new treaty designed to provide for deeper integration of the OECS, according to one local news service.
The OECS is comprised of: Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Anguilla, and the British Virgin Islands.
