New Offshore Guide Published For UK Expats

by Amanda Banks, Tax-news.com, London

26 February 2004

In the light of recent research showing that nearly half of people planning to move out of the United Kingdom would like more advice on tax matters, offshore savings bank Alliance & Leicester International, has teamed up with tax experts, the TaxCafe to produce a helpful guide on non resident and offshore tax matters.

The guide, entitled 'Non-resident & offshore tax planning' will be of interest to people in various circumstances, including those who are already living and/or working abroad, foreign nationals currently living in the UK and those planning on leaving the UK to live abroad.

The guide includes information on: the ins and outs of mitigating tax; how to receive tax free lump sums when working abroad; how to make the most of double tax relief; the pros and cons of investing offshore.

Simon Hull, Managing Director at Alliance & Leicester International Limited comments: "The number of UK citizens moving to live or work abroad is growing year by year, as is the number of people taking their assets offshore. Our research has shown that these numbers will rise significantly, and that tax planning will be central to ensuring that the move abroad is successful in financial terms.

"Consideration of tax issues is essential for the growing numbers of people planning to work or live abroad," he added.
