The UK's Law Society has appointed Desmond Hudson as its new chief executive, it emerged on Friday.
Mr Hudson is currently chief executive of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland.
Kevin Martin, Law Society president, announced that:
”Desmond joins us from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland, where he has been responsible for leading their overall strategic direction and improving their regulatory, representational and membership services. Desmond has significant commercial experience gained as chief executive of a large publishing plc and from senior roles in the financial services sector. I am sure that Desmond will make an outstanding contribution as the Law Society enters this new and exciting era.”
Mr Hudson replaces current Law Society Chief Executive, Janet Paraskeva, who will be concentrating on other roles, including that of First Civil Service Commissioner.
