The Jersey Competition Regulatory Authority (JCRA) has confirmed the appointment of Chuck Webb as its new Executive Director.
Mr Webb is a lawyer who professionally qualified in the United States. For the past two and a half years, he has served as the JCRA’s in-house Legal Advisor, advising them on matters concerning a wide range of economic sectors in Jersey.
Prior to joining the JCRA, Mr Webb worked as a private attorney, counselling clients on compliance with competition and consumer protection laws both in the United States and Europe. He is also an internationally published author and speaker, with particular expertise on the application of competition law and policy in small economies.
Mr Webb has lived in the Island since 2005. His three year contract of employment commenced on Monday.
Senator Philip Ozouf, Minister for Economic Development welcomed Mr Webb to the JCRA Board, observing that:
“The creation of the JCRA was a significant milestone in improving the competitiveness of the Jersey economy. Mr Webb has played a vital role in the evolution of the JCRA over the last 3 years and I’m sure he will continue to play an important role”.
Mr Webb is assuming the position of Executive Director following the departure of Bill Brown, who has been in the role since October 2004.
