Guernsey's financial sector has a fresh face at the helm of its regulatory body, the Guernsey Financial Services Commission, with the appointment of Peter Neville as Director General.
Mr Neville, 54, succeeds Peter Crook and has been appointed for a term of five years, commencing March 2001. A qualified chartered accountant and currently a General Manager at the Regulatory Division of Lloyd of London, Mr Neville dabbled in banking and merchant banking at Samuel Montagu and then HSBC. He subsequently spent several years at IMRO before a period advising the Maltese Government on regulatory matters and establishing an investment services regulatory regime.
John Hallam, Vice Chairman of the Guernsey Financial Services Commission, said he was delighted that Mr Neville would be heading the team: 'I am confident he will continue the excellent relationship that exists between the Commission and the finance sector and will progress the high international reputation of Guernsey,' he said.
