A new state of the art data centre run by ISP firm ITEX has been officially opened in Guernsey which will house companies' servers and networks. Though it will be manned at all times, it is fully automated, and any malfunctions in a firm's system can be pinpointed and dealt with instantly, the Guernsey Press and Star reported.
Consequently, companies will not have to devote so much time and money in maintaining their systems, and will be able to concentrate more on their day to day operations ITEX group internet services manger Steve Vowles explained.
Richard Parker, managing director at ITEX said that centralising the management and monitoring of multiple networks is "cheaper, faster and more secure", and will have obvious benefits for Guernsey's firms. It will also give the island a competitive edge over in the worldwide market, Parker said.
Many of those who attended the opening of the centre have already expressed an interest in taking ITEX's service, the Guernsey Press revealed.
